It took us a couple weeks, but we’re happy and proud to announce the Day-By-Day Plan For Our Trip To Italy that we’ll be taking in August 2009.
It looks very promising, but it might change a little bit, depending on the circumstances. Here it’s how it looks for now (no doubt it will change when we come there):
Sunday, August 16, 2009: Vancouver
• Ferry to Vancouver
Monday, August 17, 2009: Vancouver/Toronto
• Plane Vancouver – Toronto – AC 1162 — 11:00-18:30
• Plane Toronto – Rome (Fiumicino) – AC 890 – 20:25-11:00
Tuesday, August 18, 2009: Rome
• Arrival in Rome – Fiumicino (LDV) Airport – 11:00 AM
• Train to Tiburtina train/bus station
• Bus #490 to Executive Hotel – Via Aniene 3
• Take some rest
• Intro reconnaissance trip around the hotel and of two Rome’s transportation hubs – Termini and Tiburtina stations
• Buy train tickets to Venice and Padova

Wednesday, August 19, 2009: Rome/Vatican
• Vatican – Trastevere
• [planned time - 7:00 hours]
Thursday, August 20, 2009: Rome/Venice
• Bus to Termini
• Train from Termini to Venice – Santa Lucia station
• Organize at the hotel
• Get vaporetto 24-hour tickets
• Take a vaporetto cruise to San Marco stop
• Basilica San Marco area – La Salute Church – Rialto Bridge – Venice by night
• Vaporetto back to the hotel
Friday, August 21, 2009: Venice/Padua/Rome
• Vaporetto to Accademia stop
• Accademia Gallery/Accademia Bridge
• Vaporetto to San Toma stop – Palazzo Balbi/Chiesa dei Frari/ScuolaSan Rocco/Chiesa San Polo
• Vaporetto cruise on the Grand Canal to Santa Lucia station
• Train from Venice to Padua
• Bus from train station to Basilica of St. Anthony
• Lunch: Pane Al Santo – Di Andrea Rossi – Via Capelli
• Walk: Via del Santo – Via San Francesco – Universita di Padova (Via VIII Febbraio)
• Walk: Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta – Palazzo della Ragione – PAM supermarket
• Walk: Corso Garibaldi – Musei Civici Eremitani – Scrovegni Chapel
• Walk: Corso Garibaldi – train station. Get some food, etc. at the Despar supermarket adjacent to the station
• Train to Termini
